You can select from a variety of injectable products that can enhance the size and shape of your lips. At Arizona Eye Institute & Cosmetic Laser Center we offer the leading tissue (dermal) fillers, Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and Perlane®, or micro-droplet silicone oil. These tissue fillers give gradual plumping which can be tailored based upon the individual patient's desires. Furthermore, the results look and feel natural.

Although implantable materials can be surgically used to augment the lips, Dr. Emilio Justo prefers the beauty, ease, and safety of tissue fillers for the lips.

LIP AUGMENTATION PROCEDURE AND RECOVERY

Over time your lips may have lost their fullness and small wrinkles have appeared around them. Facial tissue fillers and hyaluronic acids (HA) can restore lost volume, and help to stimulate the body’s collagen production. Dr. Justo will discuss with you the type of tissue filler, Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and Perlane® , that will accomplish your lip augmentation and facial volumizing goals.

Restylane® is a clear gel that contains a non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. HA naturally occurs in humans and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. Dr. Justo advises that Restylane® maintains its shape by using the body’s own moisture (water).1 Juvéderm®, 2 is an injectable hyaluronic acid filler that was created by Allergan, Inc.. the makers of BOTOX® Cosmetic. Juvéderm®, can reduce fine lines and wrinkles and add volume to the lips and skin.

Perlane® is a dermal filler that provides longer-lasting results. Perlane® is similar to Restylane® except that the gel particles are larger and are injected deeper into the skin. The injections are done with an ultra-fine needle. You will notice that your lips with have added volume and fine lines will also be diminished.

Lip augmentation using the selected tissue filler is usually performed under topical anesthesia with an anesthetic cream applied. In more sensitive or anxious patients, a dental block (injection) can be used for deeper numbing effect. Recovery takes only a few days to a week, at which time the lips usually look and feel marvelous.

Since the dermal fillers contain natural occurring HA here's little chance for an allergic reaction. It's biodegradable, so your body will absorb it overtime.
