A Passion for Her Profession
“The pleasure and joy I receive from helping patients improve their eyesight is second to none. The purpose of my education and training is to bring the best possible care to my patients whether their problems are sight threatening or comparatively minor. However, when it comes to one’s eyes, vision and health, there are no insignificant problems. Whether it’s fitting someone with new eyeglasses or contact lenses, or diagnosing someone with a cataract or glaucoma, the smile of a patient with newly improved vision is priceless… this makes it all worthwhile.”
The Importance of Optometry
“To me, optometry is more than just eye and vision care, it is an integral part of understanding a person’s total health. Having been trained in a veteran’s hospital I have had the privilege to manage some incredibly complex cases involving diabetes, heart disease, strokes and a myriad of other conditions. It has prepared me to understand the impact of such diseases on the health of the eyes, and more importantly, has given me the confidence to care for the mildest eye issues to the most challenging. I like for my patients to know that they are in good hands and that I will take care of their concerns in the most professional and personable manner possible. I truly love what I do and I hope that my patients can see that.” Trained in a Multitude of Optometric Conditions
“My residency training emphasized the management and treatment of glaucoma and macular degeneration but also included experience in specialty contact lenses and low vision. In addition to direct patient care, I have been involved in research at the Berkeley school of optometry looking into the relationship between ocular biomechanics and glaucoma progression. I also enjoy fitting contact lenses for all types of vision correction, including astigmatism and multifocals.” A Commitment to Constant Learning
“I strive to be the best optometrist I can be through a commitment to lifelong learning. I pursued an optional residency in order to achieve the highest level of training available. This experience instilled the importance of pursuing continuing education on a daily basis. I make it a priority to read current journal articles from experts in the field to make sure that I am practicing evidence-based eye care. In addition, I attend annual academy meetings to enhance my knowledge in all areas of optometry.” The Importance of a Personal Connection
“The key to providing the best patient care has its foundation in listening and honestly addressing the patient’s questions and concerns with compassion and empathy. Patients should be included in their own treatment plan to build a symbiotic long term healthy optometrist-patient relationship that benefits everyone.” – Anna Clark, O.D. |
