A facelift can improve the skin, smooth out deep cheek folds, jowls and loose, sagging skin around the neck that is often associated with age.

A facelift may be just what you need, as it can set back the clock of age, improving the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and re-draping the skin of your lower face and neck.

During a facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, excess skin and fatty tissue around the jaw and neck is removed and the skin is pulled back to reveal a tighter, more youthful appearance. Although a facelift will improve and enhance the contour of your face and jaw line, it will not correct Arizona’s sun damage or fine wrinkles that have developed on the skin’s surface. Typically, most facelift candidates range in age from 40 to 75 years of age, and in some cases even beyond!. However, best results are achieved with patients who still have relatively good skin elasticity and a strong facial bone structure. In preparation for facelift surgery, you will need to abstain from smoking one month prior to the procedure and at least one month during the recovery period in order to avoid complications. Also, consumption of aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs prior to facelift surgery is not recommended, since these drugs are blood thinners, and may lead to increased bleeding during the course of the facelift or post-operative hematomas. A facelift can be done alone, or in conjunction with other facial procedures such as an endoscopic brow lift, eyelid lift, or laser resurfacing around the mouth or eyes.

The average facelift done today may last from 5 to 15 years, and follow-up procedures can be performed to keep you looking as good as you can for even many more years.

Bruising and swelling usually fades within two weeks and after a few days you will be permitted to wear camouflage makeup if you deem necessary.
